The Art of Brick Sculpture Images in Brick Images in Brick

University of Southern California’s 147 million dollar Galen Center is a multipurpose indoor arena and athletic facility. Architects from the firm of HNTB envisioned a 4-sided structure anchored by massive octagonal towers at each corner. The towers were designed to feature soaring brick relief sculptures on their faces. IMAGES IN BRICK created seven dynamic sculptures – each of them 50 feet tall – to accent the new arena.

In 2005 the University of Southern California commissioned IMAGES IN BRICK to sculpt seven murals 50 feet tall for the new Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles. After lengthy research, we believe this monumental undertaking may take its place as the largest set of brick murals ever created. In addition, the murals were sculpted under considerable pressure to achieve the desired completion deadline. CREATING THE COLOSSAL details the artistry behind the Galen Center murals step-by-step from design to final assembly.
